Paul "Tango" Finazzo
PAUL FINAZZO a native of Detroit has been playing professionally for 25 years. This very versatile bass player started playing clubs with the top 40 bands and jazz groups in the mid 70's. It wasn't long before people took notice and this young Detroiter was in high demand.Studio sessions began rolling in. Paul began doing album projects and jingles as well as continuing the club dates. In the later 70's Paul was recruited by a group in Colorado to assist in an album project in the works. There he began to record with several others in the area and again was in demand with local musicians. Time brought Paul to L.A. and San Francisco where he did more recording and performing.
Returning to Detroit in the mid 80's, Paul was a seasoned musician and was welcomed back to scene. Since his return he has once again made Detroit his home. Paul became well versed in rock, funk, jazz and classical. Being a schooled player and a seasoned veteran it wasn't long before show dates started to come in. In the years to come Paul would perform with top nameslike Eddie Kendricks (Temptations), Roger Daltry (The Who), Peter Noone (Hermans Hermits), Bowser (Sha-Na-Na), Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Marvelletes, and Billy Ray Cyrus. Going into the 90's didn't slow Paul's career down. He picked up a tour with Mark Farner from Grand Funk Railroad, and performed concert dates all across the country. Paul can be heard on several commercial jingles for everyone from Whirlpool to Chevrolet. He can also be heard on recordings with Gerald Albright, Brandon Fields, Tom Scott, Joe Messina, David Sanborn, and Carl Verheyen.
Paul began sharing his talent with aspiring musicians by way of teaching, as well as doing educational clinics with Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Larry Fratangelo (Funkadelic), and Gregg Bissonette (L.A. session Player, David Lee Roth).
Paul's debut CD features all original Music, written, produced and arranged by himself, with extensive bass melodies and soloing. Also appearing on the disc with Paul are a few of his friends, Chad Smith, Joe Messina, and Larry Fratangelo, as well as Detroit's finest musicians. This CD is a tribute to the musicians of the Detroit area.
